Summer Diaries #2: Farm Festival

My first Saturday of summer was spent at the Sausage and Beer Festival at Jimmy’s Farm in Ipswich. It was a small, local festival with music acts, celebrity chefs, farm animals, lot’s of food and drink stalls and of course beer and sausages!

The whole day was fantastic. It was so good to spend time with my Dad and my family as I hadn’t seen them all in a while. I’m a sucker for family days and events. Also, my dad’s office had their summer work party at the festival so we had our own section where we had garden games, bouncers, food and drink and also proper chairs and tables, which meant that we didn’t have to sit on the floor or on hay bales. It was good fun to see people there that I hadn’t seen since the previous summer party and I spent most of the day being the babysitter and trying to entertain the children there, mainly by swinging them around in circles and throwing things for them to fetch or catch. I love how easily amused some kids can be.

It was extremely hot for English weather so I was smothered in sun cream all day and I kept having to find shade for myself as I am extremely pale and I don’t do well in the sunshine. But other than that, the weather was great and really made the day.

The food was incredible! I had lot’s of pretzels and Oreo biscuits as well as a hot dog and an incredible hog roast and stuffing sandwich that was so juicy and delicious. Best hog roast ever, well done Jimmy! I’m such a foodie.

The music acts in the evening were amazing and were a great finish to the day. It was so nice to have good music, good food and my friends and family all in one place.

I felt so giddy with happiness, I didn’t want the day to end.
